Leipzig hosting BIO-Europe 2022

BIO-Europe® is scheduled to take place October 24–26 and will be the first in-person BIO-Europe since 2019 – and what better place for it to be hosted than in the vibrant scientific centre of Leipzig!

The Leipzig Region is a key research hub for several internationally renowned scientific institutions and home to the Medical and Veterinary Faculties of the University of Leipzig, the Centre for Biotechnology and Biomedicine, the biotechnological-biomedical incubator BIO CITY LEIPZIG and the Fraunhofer Institute for Cell Therapy and Immunology (IZI) – offering the ideal ecosystem for the biotech and biopharma industry to grow and flourish. The Leipzig Region also has a long history of supporting life sciences with substantial economic opportunities available to help the scientific community grow.

BIO-Europe is ideally located in Leipzig for attendees to meet the next generation of life sciences experts and specialists thanks to the leading education & research in the German state of Saxony. In particular, the Faculty of Medicine / University of Leipzig Medical Center and the Faculty of Life Sciences at the University of Leipzig train highly qualified medical and laboratory technicians. Specialist programmes such as the LernKlinik Leipzig, where 3,100 medical students can practise medical skills and imitate complex treatment situations on more than 200 simulators and phantoms, ensure the best possible preparation for a demanding profession in life sciences.

Leipzig is often called “the new Berlin” and is the perfect location for scientists, researchers, pharmacists, technicians, and executives within the scientific field. With great public transport around the region as well as cyclist-friendly traffic layouts, travel is easy and enjoyable. Leipzig is located at a junction for major railway lines and motorways across the country, with the international Leipzig/Halle airport only 30 minutes from the city centre making it easy to travel to the event from further away. Leipzig is home to DHL’s largest air cargo hub, with 24/7 operations, competent customs handling, and 4,700 m² of handling and storage space especially for pharmaceutical products.

Leipzig is a fantastic location to drive innovation, as exemplified by the success of SaxoCell and Biosaxony. Two of the eight cell therapies approved for use in Germany were developed here. Since BIO-Europe is the “Gateway To The Global Biopharma Community”, it’s a match made in heaven and a singular opportunity to network with peers, and find partners for your next project – R&D, clinical research, distribution, and end users

Register now to meet 4000+ Global Biopharma Executives in Leipzig this October!
