The official opening of the Munich-based luxury fashion retailer Mytheresa in Schkeuditz was celebrated yesterday. Mytheresa is starting up in the immediate vicinity of Leipzig/Halle Airport with 330 employees. Up to 1,000 jobs are to be created at the newly opened site. This is a great development for the Leipzig region, as Michael Körner, Managing Director of Invest Region Leipzig, points out: "This relocation is hugely important for our up-and-coming economic region, not least because logistics is not just logistics and can indeed function sustainably. The region will benefit in particular from the quality of the jobs created by the establishment of Mytheresa: "The high quality of MyTheresa's new logistics centre is also reflected in the working conditions on site for all new employees".

The Intaurus Group, a commercial property manager, investor and developer from Dachau, was already responsible for the development and marketing of the 55,000 square metres of space in 2022. In an interview with Invest Region Leipzig, Sebastian Dietzmann, COO & Managing Director of Mytheresa 2023, explained the choice of location as follows: "Leipzig is a European metropolitan region that has had a great success story with great development in recent decades and will continue to do so in the long term. There are already strong local companies and exceptionally good universities. The quality of life in the Leipzig region is high, coupled with affordable and available living space, which is very attractive for workers of all kinds."
