On course for expansion: Huboo chooses a location in the district of Leipzig

Mr. Gerald Schmitt-Reichardt, new Huboo site manager in Leipzig, continues: “Leipzig has long been a hub for logistics and supply chains, perfectly positioned in Europe as the gateway to the continent and to Eastern Europe which we as a company are now focusing on. Our primary concern is access to the German market, the largest market in Europe. As a trading hub, Leipzig is very well positioned to help us achieve our goals. It offers new opportunities for our existing customers, but also access to new customers and the chance to build a network yourself in the Leipzig region. Integration into the local economy is particularly important for Huboo,” he emphasizes. This can also be seen from the fact that Huboo decided to rent the hall of the medium-sized forwarding company LOTH, which has strong local roots. The company found support from Invest Region Leipzig GmbH, which looked after the settlement individually from the start: “Invest Region Leipzig GmbH is our local partner, they were instrumental in supporting Huboo in settling in Leipzig, especially in finding a suitable logistics location. It’s no exaggeration to say that we couldn’t have done it without them. At least it was a much calmer and faster arrival in the region,” emphasises Gerald Schmitt-Reichardt.
The lease for Huboo’s largest location to date, at 10,000 m², was signed at the beginning of April. Now the task is to fill the area with life. Huboo strives to strengthen the local economy on site. The company would like to work with companies from the region and create new jobs. The business location of Leipzig impresses with well-trained specialists from a wide variety of areas. With 14 higher education facilities – including excellent training and research facilities such as the University of Leipzig, HTWK or HHL as well as a large number of different technical and vocational schools – the next generation of skilled workers are well prepared. “We are very interested in attracting graduates to build our company with this talent but also to help them grow in their careers. Participation in the HR event with Invest Region Leipzig and the University of Leipzig “WORK IN LEIPZIG” in November 2021 was therefore very good for us. We want to show that we are a very attractive company that works very employee-centred and represent a high-value system. We currently have about half of the 32 employees we want to hire to start in Gerichshain near Leipzig. Nine of these are Business Development Managers, a role essential to our business; Therefore, cooperation with the right local partners is important for finding the best possible candidates,” says Gerald Schmitt-Reichardt.
Huboo was also able to count on the support of the Invest Region Leipzig when looking for qualified, highly motivated and customer-oriented warehouse employees. Gerald Schmitt-Reichardt explains: “The HR network and the contacts provided by the Invest Region Leipzig were very helpful. We like to work with local employment agencies to access talent and were quickly put in contact and competently taken care of.”
At all locations, Huboo sees itself as part of the local location. In the future, 250 new jobs are to be created in the Leipzig region.
