Region of Leipzig presents itself in Cannes
IRL draws positive conclusion of the international real estate fair MIPIM
With 40 square metres, the Region of Leipzig occupied the largest part of the German Pavilion and showed its innovative side. With the help of augmented and virtual reality applications, those interested could experience the region interactively. Visitors could marvel at 360 degrees videos of sights and landscapes through VR glasses, an interactive wall showed videos of institutions of Leipzig and various buildings as well as surfaces could be virtually circumnavigated by tablets at a specially designed planning table. With this innovative presentation under the motto "Leipzig Experience - Your window to explore opportunities", the region clearly stood out from the offerings of the other exhibitors.
With the help of digital content, Leipzig masterly called attention to itself – as an emerging, future-oriented and livable region with perfect transportation connections, attractive real estate and sought-after specialists. Potential investors were given an unforgettable impression of the region as the perfect location for international expansion. One focus was the Leipzig New Lakeland with its diverse investment opportunities for the tourism industry. The on the occasion of the MIPIM newly designed website shows the full potential in this segment. Topics such as the dynamic population development, the planned expansion of the Leipzig/Halle Cargo Airport and the Smart City Initiative were also subject of many discussions.
The trade fair appearance was supported not only by the shareholders of the Invest Region Leipzig GmbH but also by a large number of partners. These include, among others, the Metropolitan Region Central Germany, Leipzig Tourism and Marketing but also Stadtwerke Leipzig, Leipzig/Halle Airport, RB Leipzig and Porsche. “It has been shown that we can develop an enormous clout internationally with combined forces and competencies. As ‘Team Leipzig’ we were able to make clear that the positive development of the region has many participants. And investors in the region can also rely on this unified network”, Michael Körner, Managing Direcotr of Invest Region Leipzig Gmbh, said.
Team Leipzig at a glance
MIPIM is the leading international trade fair for the real estate sector with around 26,000 participants, more than 3,000 exhibitors and around 5,000 investors from 100 countries. Leipzig’s Mayor Burkard Jung made use of the trade fair appearance for numerous discussions with mayors of other European cities and received the award as a top European location in the category “Human capital and lifestyle”. The “European Cities and Regions of the Future” are selected by fDi Intelligence of the Financial Times. It thus honours the most attractive European locations for investments from abroad. Leipzig has caught up since 2014/15 and is seventh place among large cities in the category “Human capital and lifestyle”.
